System Engineer III

Reflexive Concepts is seeking a skilled System Engineer to join our Watch Desk team! 

Specifically, we are looking for two (2) Watch Desk Engineers to monitor and maintain mission systems around the clock.

The Work:
  • Monitor system health, availability, performance, and data pipelines
  • Investigate alerts and incidents and perform authorized recovery actions
  • Escalate unresolved issues to the appropriate teams
  • Maintain tickets, shift logs, SOPs, metrics, and reports
  • Provide concise status updates and effective shift handoffs
Responsibilities:
  • Develop and review systems engineering documentation, including System Engineering Plans, Initial Capabilities Documents, requirements specifications, and Interface Control Documents
  • Elicit, derive, allocate, and manage system and derived requirements, with formal change control and traceability to source requirements
  • Define, design, and control hardware and software interfaces, captured in a common interface format and shared repository
  • Develop system architectures, design alternatives, and operational concepts using DoDAF and SOA; conduct trade studies and Analysis of Alternatives (AoA)
  • Plan and coordinate system integration and verification activities across multiple teams
  • Assess, mitigate, and monitor program risks, including through earned value management (EVM) data
  • Manage configuration and the system baseline across the lifecycle; serve on the Configuration Control Board (CCB) and Integrated Product Teams
  • Support DoD Certification & Accreditation, JCIDS documentation, and derived Information Assurance requirements
  • Perform quantitative analysis of non-functional performance (reliability, maintainability, survivability, etc.) and use models, simulations, and prototyping to reduce risk
  • Provide technical direction for development, integration, and testing; review WBS, work packages, and IMP; apply agency, national, and international standards
Qualifications:
  • Twenty (20) years’ experience as a SE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity
  • Bachelor’s degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline from an accredited college or university
    • Five (5) years of additional SE experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree
Required:
  • Security+ certification (or ability to obtain within six months)
  • Linux and command-line proficiency
  • Hardware, software, network, and data-flow troubleshooting
  • Clear communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to follow and maintain SOPs, prioritize incidents, and work independently in a 24×7 environment
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, Rancher, Elasticsearch, Redis, NiFi, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, and virtualization
  • Experience with monitoring tools such as Nagios, Grafana, and Prometheus
  • Demonstrated experience planning and leading Systems Engineering efforts
  • Ability to work rotating 12-hour day or night shifts on a two-week schedule (Central time zone)
