Required
Candidate would be expected to be “On call” to support system operations.
The ideal candidate is a Software Engineer first, but the role requires being comfortable working across the software development lifecycle, including deployment, automation, cloud infrastructure, and production support. We are not looking for a pure application developer, nor are we looking for a traditional system administrator. The ideal candidate has software engineering experience and can also support cloud-native deployments and DevOps-related activities.
We are trying to optimize for software engineers who have operational ownership experience. We want candidates who build software and are comfortable deploying, automating, troubleshooting, and supporting it in production environments.
- Develops, maintains, and enhances complex and diverse software systems (e.g., processing-intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, manipulation of extremely large data sets, real-time systems, and business management information systems) based upon documented requirements.
- Works individually or as part of a team.
- Reviews and tests software components for adherence to the design requirements and documents test results.
- Resolves software problem reports.
- Utilizes software development and software design methodologies appropriate to the development environment.
- Provides specific input to the software components of system design to include hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, use of Commercial Off-the-shelf (COTS)/Government Off-the-shelf (GOTS) in place of new development, and requirements analysis and synthesis from system level to individual software components.
Desired Skills
- CI/CD Tools: Familiarity with continuous integration frameworks such as GitLab CI, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions.
- Infrastructure Tools: Experience with IaC tools like Terraform or Ansible.
- Container Platforms: Working knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes.
- Cloud Experience: Proficiency with major cloud service providers (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
